MR. LAIRD: I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Ian Laird. I'm
one of the Co-Directors here at the International Law Institute. I co-direct

the Center for International Investment Law with Dr. Sabahi, who will be

on the panel today.

 

I have the distinct honor of introducing our next moderator for panel

number two, and the subject of the panel is “National Court Powers to

Order Interim Measures or to Enforce Orders made by the Arbitral

Tribunal.”

 

And our moderator today is Mark Bravin. He's a Partner and Global

Co-Chair of the International Arbitration Practice at Winston & Strawn

here in Washington, D.C. He's had a lengthy and very in-depth practice

focusing on international dispute resolution and international trade.

 

Most recently, he's represented Romania in a €150 million investment

treaty arbitration before the World Bank's ICSID.

 

And in his earlier experiences as a young lawyer, he worked

extensively on cases at the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal.

 

So, we have an individual here of great experience in international

arbitration at the commercial and investment level, and I think it's a real

pleasure, once again, to welcome Mark and thank him for his participation.
