On 20 September 2004, the Republic of Chile (“Chile” or “the Respondent”) filed with the Secretary–General of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (“ICSID” or “the Centre”) an application requesting the annulment of an Award dated 25 May 2004 rendered by the Tribunal in the arbitration commenced by MTD Equity Sdn. Bhd. and MTD Chile S.A. (collectively “the Claimants” or “MTD”).
