A. Arbitration Laws

1. Please identify by title and date the principal laws and regulations governing (i) domestic and (ii) international arbitration in your State.

Domestic and international arbitration in Lebanon are governed by the provisions of Article 762 and the following Articles of the recently enacted Civil Procedure Code, which was published by virtue of Act No. 90 issued on 16 September 1983 and has been in effect since 1 July 1985.

Articles 762 to 808 address domestic arbitration and Articles 809 to 821 address international arbitration under three titles:

• General provisions (Articles 809 to 813);

• Recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards or international arbitral awards (Articles 814 and 815);

• Procedures for challenging of foreign arbitral awards or international arbitral awards (Articles 816 to 821).

2. Please provide an electronic link (i) to an English language translation of the laws and regulations identified in Question 1 above and (ii) to the Arabic text.

There is no official Lebanese electronic link with respect to any English language translation of the Lebanese laws and regulations or any official translation thereof.

However, the following websites, http://ar.jurispedia.org or www.arabruleoflaw.org (subscription required), provide Arabic versions of the Lebanese laws, particularly the provisions of the Civil Procedure Code in connection with arbitration.
