Article 3 in the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation—most commonly called the Singapore Convention on Mediation—sets forth the general principles and relief available. Article 3(1) addresses enforcement of mediated settlement agreements. Its terms establish that a contracting state—one that decides to adopt the convention— shall enforce a settlement agreement according to its rules of procedure and the convention.

Article 3(2) address additional relief that parties can pursue under the convention. Under its terms, if a dispute arises concerning a matter that a party claim was already resolved by a settlement agreement, a contracting state shall allow the party to invoke the settlement agreement in accordance with its rules of procedure and under the conditions laid down in the convention, in order to prove that the matter has been already resolved.
