Switzerland's recent federal statute governing international arbitration has been received with a mixture of enthusiasm and concern by the alternative dispute resolution community. The main question: Will Switzerland maintain its historic desirability as a venue for international arbitration? Analyzing the question from an American point of view, the author argues that portions of the new law are a significant improvement over the past and are more accommodating to U.S. practices and sensibilities.
