Throughout Working Group II’s 69th Session—on Feb. 4-8, 2019, at the United Nations headquarters in New York—at which new expedited arbitration rules were examined, different forms the framework might take were suggested:

• an inclusive set of rules distinct from the Uncitral Arbitration Rules;
• annexes or amendments to the Uncitral Arbitration Rules; or
• guidelines to parties, arbitral tribunals, and to arbitration institutions administering expedited arbitration (referencing the 2016 Uncitral Notes on Organizing Arbitral Proceedings).

It was agreed, however, that the key elements comprising expedited arbitration should be dealt with first.
