More than one year ago, on Sept. 12, 2020, and in the midst of the pandemic, the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation—best known as the Singapore Convention—came into force.

To commemorate this event, in September 2021, the Singapore Ministry of Law together with other supporting organizations organized Singapore Convention Week 2021, aimed to gain practical insights from the Convention’s first year of application. The commemoration included the inaugural United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Academy event. (See https://bit.ly/3kCcr55.)

The International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution, which publishes Alternatives, devoted the first panel of its October 2021 CPR International Conference to the effects that the Singapore Convention is having on cross-border disputes.
