For many organizations, the concept of dispute prevention may be new. Even if the concept is not new to your organization, you have likely encountered skeptics in your organization that didn’t feel there is value in investing in dispute prevention. Indeed, change is hard. It’s why my grandma often said the only person who likes change is a wet baby. And it is why I want to devote this month’s column to addressing common obstacles I have heard over the years on why organizations are resistant to adding dispute prevention mechanisms to their dispute management toolbox. But more important, it’s why I want to share tips for overcoming each of the barriers.
