Artificial intelligence is quickly reshaping our world and becoming part of our daily lives, even for those who are not aware of the extent to which that is the case.

Knowledge of the effects and implications of AI is increasingly important to understanding the substance of underlying disputes in the realm of arbitration across a range of sectors. Those practicing as arbitrators or advocates in the labor and employment arena, for example, can expect a growing need to deal with issues such as potential job displacement, use of AI for surveillance and monitoring in the workplace, or for such tasks as evaluating employee performance and vetting job candidates, all of which is already in evidence across the globe.

Less attention has been paid, however, to the prospect of AI becoming part and parcel of the arbitration process itself, regardless of the subject matter.
